The 9-11 Memorial Park on Sound Avenue, is a 4-acre sanctuary for reflection and remembrance where the community gathers each year on Sept. 11 to remember the heroes and victims of that fateful day in 2001. Photos.

Twenty-two years after the attacks, the need to remember that day and what it meant weighed heavily on the minds of people speaking at the ceremonies Monday. The Reeves Park community will mark the 21st anniversary of the terrorist attack that claimed more than 3,000 lives on Sept. 11, 2001 with a candlelight procession on Park Road/Thomas Kelly Memorial Drive and memorial service at the 9-11 Memorial Park this evening beginning at 6:15 p.m.

On this day in September 2001, on a morning of brilliant blue skies and bright sunshine, life as we knew it changed forever.

Friday marks the 14th anniversary of the terror attacks that claimed more than 3,000 lives on Sept. 11, 2001. Local residents will gather at 6:30 p.m. Friday for a candlelight remembrance procession and ceremony.
