The fire investigation is completed but investigations by the State Department of Environmental Conservation and Suffolk County health department will continue, the Riverhead fire marshal says.

Riverhead Town will ban parking and idling on a portion of Youngs Avenue near Crown Recycling, following complaints from residents about large trucks obstructing the roadway.

Investigations into the cause and impacts of a fire that "completely destroyed" a Calverton solid waste facility last Wednesday remain ongoing, officials say.

The smoldering ruins of the Crown Recycling facility on Youngs Avenue provided a smoky backdrop for a press conference called this afternoon by Riverhead Town Supervisor Tim Hubbard.

Residents in the area of the fire should keep their windows closed and try to stay indoors as the fire at a recycling facility on Youngs Avenue continues to burn Wednesday morning.
