Applications for Home Energy Assistance Program benefits, delayed a month by the federal government shutdown, are now open, the governor announced.

Federal HEAP funding will not reach New Yorkers until at least November 24, state officials say.

Renters and homeowners who need assistance keeping their homes warm this winter can apply for help to the Home Energy Assistance Program, known as HEAP.

The HEAP program is making $327 million in federal funding available statewide to eligible older New Yorkers and low- and moderate-income New Yorkers to help cover heating costs.
