Residents will be required to separate yard waste from other wastes on designated yard waste collection days or it won’t be picked up by the carter, which will make a separate pickup run for it.

Councilwoman Jodi Giglio put the brakes on a proposal submitted by the town's IT consulting firm for transitioning town government to cloud-based computing, asking to see cost comparisons for other cloud companies before she'll agree to the consultant's proposal.

“The board basically excused misbehavior by narrowing its focus and did not respond to the core of our complaint," according to civic coalition that filed the complaint, which Councilwoman Jodi Giglio said had "no basis — no facts, no nothing to back it up."

In a decision dated Oct. 24 and received by town board members today, the Riverhead Board of Ethics found that Giglio did not violate the Riverhead ethics code in taking a private meeting with the applicant’s representatives

A complaint charging Councilwoman Jodi Giglio with ethics violations has been filed with the N.Y. State Attorney General’s Public Integrity Bureau, which investigates allegations of government corruption, fraud and abuse of authority. The councilwoman called the complaint "a political hit."

The councilwoman said in an interview Tuesday afternoon she has not decided whether she will abide by any ethics board’s recommendation that she recuse herself from voting on the "qualified and eligible sponsor" application by a company she met privately with during a pending hearing.

The town board on Tuesday will appoint Bay Shore attorney David Besso of the firm Long Tuminello LLP to advise the ethics board in the pending complaint against Councilwoman Jodi Giglio.

At the April 5 work session, Councilwoman Jodi Giglio reviewed what she said were questions and answers from her March 12 meeting in NYC with representatives of the company that wants to buy the town's land at EPCAL. But the legal pad she read from contained almost no notes made during that meeting, according to documents provided by the town in response to a Freedom of Information Law request.

The complaint says the councilwoman’s “private meeting” with the prospective purchasers impairs her ability to act impartially in the application. Giglio vehemently denies any wrongdoing in taking the meeting, which she says was simply exercising "due diligence" in reviewing the proposal.

A recent attack letter, followed quickly by long, obviously coordinated, nasty comments aimed at myself and my wife, Barbara, including remarks on local radio, all from the tag team of Mason Haas and the Giglios, cannot go unanswered. Column by Greg Blass.
