Town officials are seeking volunteers to help document buildings in Riverhead's Polish Town and collect stories and records that may help an effort to gain historic district recognition for the neighborhood.

The Riverhead Blues Festival is back this year with Kerry Kearney headlining a night of “Blues for a Brighter House,” a special fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House. 

Polish Town USA is once again the place to be on this second weekend of August for traditional Polish food, music, dance and time to celebrate all things Polish.

Riverhead Polish Hall invites the community to celebrate the Stars and Stripes on the 250th birthday of the United States Army Saturday, June 14.

Women’s suffrage came to the Riverhead Polish Independent Club this week. Until a bylaws amendment was approved Tuesday nights, full membership with voting rights in the 117-year-old Polish Town club had only been granted to its male members.

Riverhead Polish Hall last night celebrated the grand opening of “Ziggy’s Place,” in the reimagined lower-level bar, bowling alley and meeting room at the iconic Polish Town banquet hall.

The expanded one-day Polish Festival will feature artisan vendors, traditional foods, a re-enactment of a traditional Polish wedding, the crowning of a Polish Town queen — and king — and, of course polka music.

The Polish Town Street Fair and Festival is canceled again this year. The cancellation marks the third consecutive year that the iconic street fair and festival, which had been held on the second weekend in August since its inception in 1975, will not take place.

Riverhead Polish Hall is planning a one-day Polish festival on Aug. 21 to help fill the void left by the cancellation of the Polish Town Street Fair and Festival this year.
