Peconic Bay Medical Center has received a $250,000 donation from the Polish Town Civic Association in Riverhead for the construction of the hospital’s new expansions, the hospital announced today.

The Polish Town Fair and Street Festival has been canceled again this year, a representative of the Polish Town Civic Association, which sponsors the fair, told RiverheadLOCAL today.

The Polish Town Street Fair and Festival is canceled again this year. The cancellation marks the third consecutive year that the iconic street fair and festival, which had been held on the second weekend in August since its inception in 1975, will not take place.

Clearance for the festival to take place under COVIID restrictions didn't come soon enough to make the necessary arrangements, a Polish Town Civic Association representative said.

Tom Mielnicki, who became president of the Polish Town Civic Association in January, resigned the post in October because he says he couldn't get straight answers about how the money raised by its annual street fair gets spent or why the organization's tax-exempt status, which was revoked in 2014, has not been re-instated.
