Hotel and motel operators in Riverhead Town said today they are not taking in homeless migrants from New York City and have not been solicited by anyone to do that, contrary to Supervisor Yvette Aguiar’s statements, including those in her executive order issued last night declaring a state of emergency due to the “immediate danger of public emergency of hundreds, or potentially, thousands of persons being transported to the Town of Riverhead.”

Riverhead and Suffolk County Water Authority will work together to bring public water to Manorville, under preliminary agreement discussed yesterday
Under a preliminary agreement discussed "in broad strokes" yesterday, the water authority would install about 3,000 feet of water main and serve 64 homes in the Town of Riverhead from the SCWA system.

Riverhead has been identified as an area approaching COVID-19 “micro-cluster status”, the town supervisor warned. Designation as a micro-cluster focus area would mean tighter restrictions on Riverhead businesses, schools and residents.

Riverhead school district sues Riverhead Town for balance of last year’s property tax warrant
The district is seeking payment of nearly $4.2 million, plus interest, in property tax money the district says is owed to it by the town on the district’s $86.77 million 2019-2020 tax levy.

A second Riverhead Town police officer has tested positive for COVID-19. The town has extended the state of emergency. All buildings are closed to the public as are town recreation facilities such as dog parks, basketball courts, pickle ball courts, the skate park and hockey rink.
