The Riverhead Board of Education will meet for the first time tonight since the $23 million bond referendum met a crushing defeat at the polls Feb. 9. The board will formally accept the results of the election tonight: 2,395 no (62.5 percent) and 1,439 yes (37.5 percent). Download the board’s meeting agenda below.

Also before the board at tonight’s meeting are resolutions approving contract extensions with the Riverhead Central Faculty Association and Superintendent Diane Scricca. The teachers’ union current agreement expires on June 30 and will be extended for a term of two years. Dr. Scricca’s current contract will be extended through June, 2013 if the board approves the action tonight.

  • Spring break in the Riverhead school district will be one day shorter, due to the snow day on Feb. 10, the district announced. School will resume on Monday, April 5 instead of April 6. If another snow day is needed this term, spring reess will start a day later, on Tuesday, March 30 instead of Monday, March 29.
