Riverhead Town Police recorded 167 criminal incidents in March, up from 144 in March 2025, according to the department’s monthly activity report.

Criminal offenses reported this month were:

Riverhead Police reported filing 82 criminal charges in March. The most common charge categories shown in the report’s arrest-by-charge chart were petit larceny (14), driving while intoxicated (13), arrest warrant (7) and CPCS (7), followed by bench warrant (6) and TCV (5).

Riverhead Police arrested 77 people on those charges and held 47 individuals for arraignment, according to the report.

Police reported 60 domestic incidents in March, the same number as in March 2025.

There were 2,994 total incidents reported in March, compared with 2,922 a year earlier. The report listed 2,827 non-criminal incidents, compared with 2,778 in March 2025.

Police reported 114 motor vehicle accidents in March, down from 123 in March 2025. One accident involved deer, compared with nine a year earlier.

The town issued 1,042 summonses in March, down from 1,076 in March 2025.

The criminal offense data reported by the Riverhead Police Department complies with the National Incident-Based Reporting System implemented by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and used by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. The department completed its transition to NIBRS reporting in July 2024.
