A three-car collision at the intersection of Route 58 and Oliver St sent three people to the hospital shortly after 5 p.m. Friday evening.

A northbound Toyota Corolla carrying three passengers was attempting to make a lefthand turn onto Route 58. It collided with a Toyota SUV traveling eastbound on Route 58, which was pushed into a westbound Jeep Liberty waiting to turn left onto Oliver St, police said.

There were no passengers in the Jeep Liberty or the Toyota SUV, police said.

Two ambulances from the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported the three drivers to Peconic Bay Medical Center with non-lifethreatening injuries, police said.

Eastbound traffic on Route 58 was diverted for approximately a half hour.
