Two people were sent to the hospital with minor injuries after an accident on Roanoke Avenue Friday afternoon.

A Toyota Highlander rear-ended a Nissan Altima on Roanoke Avenue just south of the Rt. 58 traffic circle at about 1 p.m., police said. Both cars were northbound at the time of the accident.

Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded with two rigs to transport both drivers to Peconic Bay Medical Center. The male driver of the Altima suffered neck, back and leg pain and the female driver of the Highlander suffered neck and back pain. There were no other passengers in either vehicle, according to police.

No summonses were issued, police said.
