Areas of fog, some locally dense, with will reduce visibilities on local roads early this morning, according to the National Weather Service, which said in a special weather statement that visibilities will be reduced below one mile across Long Island, southern Connecticut and Westchester County.

Motorists should drive with extra caution.

Visibilities will improve through the early morning hours, the weather service said.

Cloudy skies with a 30 percent chance of rain is forecast for Riverhead and the East End today. A mix of sun and clouds is forecast for Friday and Saturday with light snow expected Sunday morning, according to the NWS forecast.
