Mary Rita Kennelly (nee McGuire), 94, passed away Saturday, July 19 at her home in Naples, Florida.
She was born December 1, 1919 to the late James and Catherine (nee Fennell) McGuire.
She married Thomas F. Kennelly September 1, 1945 at the Church of Saint Anthony, Nepera Park, NY. After 53 years of blissful marriage, Tom pre-deceased her on August 28, 1998 in Manhasset, NY.
“Rita” graduated of New Rochelle College with a BA having distinguished herself with Masters of Art and later attained her Masters from UCONN. Rita became a passionate Teacher in Milford, CT and later Manhasset, NY.
In 2004, Rita relocated to Naples, Florida where she enjoyed race-walking the white-sand beach. She lived out her days comfortably under the loving care of her daughter Kathleen and son-in-law Michael.
She is survived by three children: Thomas F Kennelly of Nantucket, MA; Mrs. Kathleen (Michael) Feldon of Naples, FL; Mrs, Mary (Robert) Payne of Palm Desert, CA. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren whom, to her delight, cherished their beloved “GG”. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Marion (William) Healey of Milford, CT, sister-in-law Mrs. Kaye (Daniel) Thomas of Yonkers, NY and numerous nieces and nephews.
