George Fabian of Southold died at his home on March 11, 2015. He was 93 years old.
Born on March 3, 1922 in Croatia to Margaret (nee Jurjevich) and George Fabian, he served as a PFC in the US Army from 1942 to 1945. His tour of duty included the Battle of Normandy (D Day / 1st wave); earning him the Purple Heart.He then enjoyed a long career as a carpenter in the Empire State Building.
George was a communicant of St. Patrick’s R.C. Church and a member of the Adriatic Social Club.
He is survived by his wife Mary (nee Spiciarich) who he married on November 16, 1952; three children: Margie Lotito of Miller Place, George Fabian of Mt. Sinai and Steven Fabian of Port Jefferson and eight grandchildren: Brian, Brent, Kevin, Craig, Elizabeth, George, Jacqueline and Julia and a great-granddaughter: Olivia.
The family received friends on Sunday, March 15th at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, March 16th at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church by Father Peter Garry. Interment was in St. Patrick’s R.C. Cemetery.
