Riverhead Little League players take the field for opening day ceremonies April 25, 2026. RiverheadLOCAL/Peter Blasl

The threat of rain didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of players, coaches and fans yesterday for Riverhead Little League’s official opening of its 2026 season. And the rain held off long enough for the celebration to go on as planned.

Players, coaches and parents paraded onto the field for the ceremonies, greeted by community leaders and dignitaries, including members of the Riverhead Town Board. Riverhead Supervisor Jerry Halpin handled duties as master of ceremonies of the event.
