Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps was the beneficiary of a $2,000 grant from the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation.

The gift was made possible by Apple Honda vice president and general manager William Fields, who has been recognized by the foundation as an Ambassador of Distinction. With that status comes the ability to present a gift every three years to a not-for-profit entity of his choice.

The Route 58 auto dealership V.P. chose Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Fields presented a $2,000 check to RVAC on Friday afternoon.

“We greatly appreciate the generosity of the National Automobile Dealers Foundation and Mr. Fields from Apple Honda taking time from his busy day to present the check to us,” RVAC Chief Bill Wilkinson said. “Donations like this allow us to purchase items we use to further train our members to better serve our community.”

Fields has been an active supporter of the EMS community. It was his initiative to purchase CPR training units for local rescue workers. Apple Honda donated the units to the Riverhead and Wading River fire departments, to help them train their members in CPR techniques.
