Riverhead police reported 127 criminal incidents in June, down from 150 reported during the same month last year, according to the department’s monthly activity report released July 16.
The department reported a total of 3,136 incidents during the month, up from 2,925 incidents reported in June 2025. Non-criminal incidents accounted for 3,009 of the calls for service, while criminal incidents totaled 127.
Police made 82 arrests in June, compared with 78 during the same month last year, and filed 106 charges against adults and juveniles, up from 93 charges in June 2025. Officers issued 1,229 summonses during the month, compared with 1,640 a year earlier.
Motor vehicle accidents also increased year-over-year, with police reporting 181 crashes in June, compared with 159 in June 2025. The department reported no fatal motor vehicle accidents during the month.
Domestic incidents increased from the prior year, with police reporting 88 incidents in June, compared with 66 in June 2025.
Shoplifting remained the most frequently reported criminal offense in June, with 20 incidents reported during the month. Destruction or vandalism of property followed with 15 reported incidents. Police also reported 14 driving while intoxicated offenses, 13 simple assaults and 11 drug/narcotic violations.
