Richard John Minnick of Calverton died Sept. 14, 2015 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 64 years old.
Born in Mineola on March 23, 1951, he was the son of George and Novella (Callegari) Minnick.
A Riverhead High School graduate (1969), he worked for 42 years as a carpenter with Carpenters Union Local 290.
He married Cynthia Swiatocha on July 24, 1981 in Riverhead. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Elks Club and the Brotherhood of Union Carpenters Local 290.
His hobbies include NASCAR, Harley Davidson motorcycles and the Mets. He loved his cabin in upstate New York.
Predeceased by his parents and his brothers Kenneth, Joseph and Robert, he is survived by his wife of 34 years and his children, Charlene Bloss, Brian, Breyan and Michael. He is also survived by his brother, Gary, his sister Adele Abrahamson, and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home. A service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
