The Riverhead Fire Department Ironmen Drill Team held its 7th Annual Spaghetti Dinner Saturday night at RFD headquarters.

The annual spaghetti dinner is a fundraiser for the drill team, which was established Jan. 23, 1935 so that the department could have a single tournament team instead of each company in the department competing independently. It won the state championship just eight months later.

Over the years the team has taken numerous county, state and North Fork championships. The Ironmen celebrated their 75th anniversary in 2010 by hosting the 138th Annual Suffolk County Volunteer Fireman’s Motorized Drill and Parade. The parade marched up Route 58 for the first time in history. The event drew more than 50 fire departments from all over Suffolk County and hundreds of spectators.
