Riverhead Rotary Club members, friends and Riverhead High School NJROTC cadets served more than 650 meals yesterday during the club’s annual spaghetti lunch and dinner yesterday at Polish Hall.

The event is a fundraiser benefitting Riverhead Rotary Charities, which supports charitable organizations and activities in the Riverhead community and beyond.

“It was a great success, thanks to more than 100 volunteers who worked from morning till night to make it happen,” said event chairperson Denise Calderone.

“We’re very grateful for the fantastic community support, once again, and of course all of the local businesses who sponsor this event in so many ways,” Riverhead Rotary president Tom Lennon said.

The club this year named the event for Herb Dresher, a 54-year club member who passed away in August. Dresher was the unrivaled spaghetti dinner ticket sales champion each year, single-handedly responsible for dozens of hungry guests coming through the doors of Polish Hall for the event each year.
