Plans for a carnival in Riverside have been shelved.

Organizer Ron Fisher, president of the Flanders, Riverside and Northampton Community Association announced the cancellation yesterday. He said there was not enough time to put the event together.

“We are fortunate to have an amazing town board, who was willing to do all they could to get the carnival off the ground this year, but we just couldn’t get all of our ducks in a row in time,” Fisher said in a statement.

Fisher said there was not enough time to make sure there was an adequate safety plan in place for the increased pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the area of Ludlam Park.

“I will do everything I can to turn this disappointment into an even better event next year with adequate planning.  I want to thank everybody who supported the carnival and worked to make it happen and signed up to volunteer,” he said.
