‘Farm to table’ has become a hot trend at local restaurants. Digger’s Ales N Eats is putting a little spin on that next week. They’re donating proceeds from a buffet dinner there on Thursday, March 9 back to the farm – to Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Horticultural Research Center, that is.
Digger’s has been involved with the agricultural industry on Long Island for many years, knows the struggles of the farmer and understands the importance of Cornell University’s local presence, the horticultural research center said in a press release. The Long Island Farm Bureau, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County, CCE of Nassau County, and Cornell University are all supporting this endeavor.
There will be a large buffet dinner served for $30 per person from 6 to 8 p.m. Reservations are not taken. The bar will remain open until midnight. Celebrity bartenders from the horticultural industry will be donating their time to entertain the diners, assist the bartenders, and encourage a great time.
The funds raised from the evening will go to support the student internship fund and horticultural research done at the facility on Sound Avenue.
Digger’s is located at 58 W. Main St in Riverhead.
