Harvest East End brought a sellout crowd to Martha Clara Vineyards this afternoon to celebrate the wine, food and culture of the East End.
The Long Island Wine Council event, with a “Back to Our Roots” theme, paid homage to 11 of the men and women who began the legacy of the Long Island wine community: Anne Marie and Marco Borghese, Dr. Dan Damianos, Jason Damianos, Robert Entenmann, Dave Mudd, Bob Palmer, Robert Pellegrini, Gabby Pisacano, Sam Rubin and Christian Wölffer.
The event was organized by a committee of Wine Council members from four wineries: Palmer Vineyards, Sparkling Pointe, Bedell and Martha Clara. It was chaired by Martha Clara’s winemaker and general manager Juan Micieli-Martinez.
It featured the wines of more than 20 East End wineries and hors d’oeuvres from Lombardi’s Love Lane Market of Mattituck. Harbes offered fresh roasted corn and the Long Island Oyster Growers Association offered local oysters.
Proceeds from the event support cooperative initiatives dedicated to progressing viticulture, sustainable agriculture and community relations, according to a statement from the Long Island Wine Council.
