A 19-year-old motorcyclist was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries following a collision with another vehicle on Route 25A in Wading River Sunday afternoon, according to Riverhead Town Police.

Police said Alex Michaelson of Shoreham was operating a motorcycle eastbound on Route 25A at about 1:25 p.m. when it struck a car pulling out of the King Kullen shopping center onto westbound 25A.

The operator of the car, Margaret Lamura, 69, of Shoreham, was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center with a minor medical condition, police said.

A State Police accident reconstruction team responded to the scene and is assisting with the Riverhead Detectives with the investigation. Both the car and motorcycle were impounded for safety checks, police said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact the Riverhead Police at (631)727-4500.
