Riverhead Town Police are investigating an assault that took place on Hamilton Avenue just after midnight Saturday morning.

Police responded to a report of a disturbance there and found a male who had been attacked by a large group of youths, according to a police press release issued this afternoon. The youths fled upon police arrival, but officers located two people who were identified as being involved in the attack, according to the police report.

Jason Serafico, 18, and Lucas Canel-Kibler, 19, both of Riverhead, were arrested on charges of harassment in the second degree, police said.

The victim was transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of injuries police said were not life-threatening.

Police ask anyone who may have witnessed or has information about the incident to call them at 631-727-4500. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
