Stony Brook Southampton Hospital is seeking new pastoral care volunteers for its No One Dies Alone program, which ensures no patient is alone at his or her end-of-life. A free training session will be held on Thursday, Jan. 25 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the hospital, located at 240 Meeting House Lane in Southampton.

Volunteers are also needed for “Compassionate Companions,” the hospital’s extension of the program that was created in 2016 for the sole purpose of providing companionship to patients seeking company in the absence of family and friends.

The hospital’s No One Dies Alone program was initiated several years ago by palliative care Chaplain Mary Hogarty and is comprised of volunteers from throughout the South Fork communities, as well as hospital employees.

Those who are interested in attending the training session, or learning more about the hospital’s No One Dies Alone program, must call Hogarty at (631) 726-8296.
