Riverhead High School principal Dr. Charles Regan has been “administratively reassigned by the district pending an investigation into a personnel matter,” the Riverhead Central School District announced Tuesday night in a statement posted on the district website.
Assistant principal Sean O’Hara will serve as acting principal of the high school, the statement said.
“While we understand that there will be questions surrounding this matter, the district is legally prohibited from sharing further details on it.,” the statement said. “We appreciate your patience as we perform our due diligence regarding this matter.”
No further information was made available about the investigation.
The statement was signed by Dr. Aurelia Henriquez, superintendent of schools.
Regan previously served as assistant principal at the high school before being named principal in June 2013, replacing David Wicks, who was named assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction. O’Hara, then the district’s director of fine arts and music, was named assistant principal at that time.
