Southampton Town Police are seeking information about small child struck by a vehicle on Old Quogue Road in Riverside yesterday evening.
Police said a Good Samaritan found an injured 3-year-old child walking along the roadway at about 6:40 p.m. yesterday. The child’s “injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle,” police said.
The child was at a residence on Old Quogue Road, being supervised by his grandmother, when he wandered off, police said.
A witness told police they saw a black sedan leaving the area where the child was found, according to a police press release. It is unknown if the driver knew they struck the child, police said.
The child was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk County Police Aviation with minor, non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Southampton Town detectives are asking for anyone with possible information regarding the accident or vehicle in question to call 631-702-2230.
