Another Riverhead Middle School student has been arrested on a weapon possession charge, Riverhead Town Police said in a press release this afternoon.
Police said they were notified at approximately 10:40 a.m. today by middle school officials that they had confiscated a knife from a student.
Riverhead Police patrol officers responded to the middle school and recovered the knife, according to the report.
A 13-year-old Flanders resident was arrested on a charge of Unlawful Possession of Weapons by Persons under Sixteen in violation of New York State Penal Lw, police said. The juvenile was processed and released to a parent for a future court appearance, police said.
On Friday two Riverhead Middle School students were arrested on weapons possession charges after school officials recovered a toy Orby gun, a BB Gun and two knives from a search of two students and their lockers. School officials had learned of an altercation among students being planned for after-school hours and searched two students, ages 13 and 14, they said were involved in the situation, according to a statement from the school district.
