Riverhead Town Police reported 124 criminal incidents and issued 84 criminal charges in May, according to a monthly crime report released by Police Chief David Hegermiller this month.

For reference, police reported 160 criminal incidents and issued 111 criminal charges in May 2023. There were 80 individuals arrested in May — 79 adults and one juvenile.
Out of the 80 individuals arrested, 47 were held for arraignment.

The town issued 1,415 summonses in May: 50 town code violations, 965 traffic tickets and 400 parking tickets.
There were 2,822 non-criminal incidents reported by police in May.
Police reported 190 motor vehicle accidents in May; 25 were classified as minor. Seven accidents involved deer.
