Riverhead Police are seeking information related to a break-in at Star Confectionery on East Main Street in Riverhead sometime between midday Monday and early Tuesday morning, according to a police press release.

Police responded to a call from the owner of Star Confectionery just before 8 a.m. this morning, reporting an attempted break-in at his business.

Officers found that someone had indeed made entry to the promises. While it did not initially appear that anything had been removed, the owner’s further inspection determined that someone had removed “assorted U.S. currency” from the premises, police said.

The Riverhead detective division investigated and determined that the break-in occurred sometime between 11 or 11:30 a.m. Monday and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the report.

The investigation is ongoing, police said. They ask anyone with information to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.
