Francis J. Palamara of Riverhead died on Feb. 27, 2025. He was 99 years old.

Born on July 13, 1925, in Brooklyn, he was the son of Joseph and Marie (Spina) Palamara. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He earned a bachelor’s degree and worked as the vice president and COO of the New York Stock Exchange. He was also the owner of The Rinx Sports and Recreation Facility, The Rinx Preschool Academy, and Hidden Pond Day Camp.

He was predeceased by his sister Marie Gadbois and his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Palamara. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Palleschi; his children, Thomas (Laura Chiomastro), Mary Ann Gessner (Bob), J. Francis; Diane Trupia (Peter), Ann Malone (Michael), Louise Sullivan (John), Marie Beattie, and Roberta Carnes. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, March 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 8, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church. Inurnment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to colinsjoyproject.org/donate. Colin was one of Frank’s 43 great-grandchildren.
