Riverhead Town Police reported 164 criminal offenses and arrested 72 people on 100 criminal charges in January, according to a monthly crime report released by Police Chief Ed Frost on Feb. 27.

The criminal offense data reported by the Riverhead Police Department complies with the National Incident-Based Reporting System (IBRS) implemented by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and in use by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. The department completed its transition to reporting in compliance with IBRS in July 2024.
Riverhead Police reported filing 100 criminal charges, including one against a juvenile.

Riverhead Police arrested 71 adults (49 males, 22 females) and one juvenile (male) on the above-listed charges, according to the report.
Out of the 72 individuals arrested, 30 were held for arraignment.
Riverhead Police reported 56 domestic incidents in January.
The town issued 1,042 summonses in January: 43 for town code violations, 789 traffic tickets and 210 parking tickets.
There were 2,830 non-criminal incidents reported by Riverhead Police in January.
Police reported 139 motor vehicle accidents in Riverhead Town in January. One was fatal; 12 were classified as minor. Nine accidents involved deer.
