A cold weather advisory remains in effect until 10 o’clock this morning.
Temperatures in the teens this morning combined with blustery winds are resulting in very cold wind chill values as low as -5º to -10º, according to the advisory issued by the National Weather Service for Long Island and New York City.
Expect cloudy skies and a high of only 25º today, the weather said. A blustery north wind of 21 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph will make it feel like -5º and 5º F.
The ice and snow that piled up after last weekend’s storm won’t be melting away any time soon. Cold weather will continue throughout the week, the weather service said. Temperatures Monday through Friday will generally top out around 30º with lows in the teens to single digits, the weather service said. There’s a 40% chance of snow Friday night, according to the NWS forecast.
