Astrid Gilmore of Cutchogue died June 23, 2026, at home. She was 84 years old.
Born Aug. 13, 1941, in Oslo, Norway, she was the daughter of Jenny and Olav Cederkvist. In the 1960s, she worked as a Pan Am flight attendant.
She married James W. Gilmore Feb. 28, 1969, in Manhattan.
Over the years, she was an artist, acquired interior decorator credentials, was a homemaker and later worked in administration at Englewood Hospital. She enjoyed painting and knitting, and her family said she shared those talents with many loved ones.
Rooted in her heritage, she was active in Norwegian Klubben for 60 years, keeping language, recipes and celebrations alive with her children and grandchildren. She was also part of the faith community at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Greenport.
She was predeceased by her husband and her sisters, Ingse Pariseleti and Anne Marie Pedersen. She is survived by her children, Jennyka Wassermann of Brooklyn and Alexie van Bilderbeek of Los Angeles; her brother, Harald Cederkvist of Oslo, Norway; and three grandchildren.
The family will remember her life with a private memorial at this time.
