President Trump's executive orders call into question the future of teaching Black history in American schools.

A long-defunct motel on Flanders Road, converted into apartments, is a reminder of the once-thriving Black business district in Riverside. David Peter Fitzgerald, whose father built the motel in 1957, and who later operated the motel, recalls Riverside's forgotten history.

The trip back in time was a difficult and emotional journey for a local youth group that toured portions of the southeastern U.S. last month on a quest to understand what it was like to be a Black American in the eras of slavery and Jim Crow.

This is an egregious injury to a group of American citizens who demand better. It simply will not be tolerated and we do not for one moment, think her letter and promise of sensitivity training is sufficient repair for the harm caused by the article written by the head librarian. It read like a recruitment flyer for the KKK. It is just flatly unacceptable.
