Several residents spoke out at yesterday's IDA meeting against applications for tax breaks by the developers of three projects in Riverhead: a hotel on Route 58, a medical office on Ostrander Avenue and a mixed-use workforce housing development on East Main Street.

Georgica Green Ventures has signed a contract to buy the property south of the former Dinosaur Walk Museum along McDermott Avenue, expanding its development to include 130 rental apartments and a riverfront restaurant.

Riverhead supervisor says downtown historic district designation will prevent former Sears building from being razed to make way for five-story apartment building. Landmarks commission chairman says that's not accurate.
