James Ayers, 47, of Flanders, who was shot in the head outside 747 East Main St. on Jan. 6 has died, Riverhead Police Chief David Hegermiller said. No arrests have yet been made, he said.

Suffolk homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man who reported being struck on the head by an unknown man on West Main Street Thursday died at South Shore Hospital yesterday.

The man police say murdered a 27-year-old Greenport woman yesterday was arrested on Osborn Avenue in Riverhead today, according to Suffolk County Police.

(Updated: 1:07 p.m.) Thomas Lacolla, 27, was found shot to death in a parked car outside a house on Old Quogue Road last night.

A passing motorist on Wading River-Manor Road noticed a fire in the woods, then discovered it was a burning body, Suffolk County Police said.
