The Jamesport St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place this today starting at 1 p.m. Main Road in Jamesport will be closed to traffic for the event. Motorists should expect delays and avoid the area.

Maybe it was the “luck of the Irish” or maybe it was the lucky number seven, but the East End Emerald Society’s 7th St. Patrick’s Day Parade today was no doubt blessed with good fortune. The parade had no sooner ended when the overcast skies darkened, then opened up, sending lingering spectators scrambling for cover from the downpour.

Three suspects fled in a van, which then crashed into a building in Aquebogue. Police arrested two suspects at the scene of the crash. A third remains at large, police said.

Portions of Main Road and South Jamesport Avenue will be closed Saturday afternoon from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. for the dedication of South Jamesport Avenue scheduled for 1 p.m.

The June 15 ceremony will include the unveiling of a street sign bearing the name 'Det. Brian Simonsen Way.'
