The presentation by Riverhead school district architects, originally set for Tuesday, Aug. 27, has been postponed to Sept. 10.

Six months after the Diocese of Rockville Centre shuttered McGann-Mercy High School and nearly three months after it told parents a $10 million deal for the campus had been finalized, no sale has taken place and the diocese won’t provide information about the fate of the site.

Diocesan officials dealt a stunning blow to residents who were working to open an independent Catholic high school on the former McGann-Mercy campus in Riverhead.

McGann-Mercy added three runs in the top of the seventh inning yesterday, defeating Mattituck 7-4 at Mattituck High School yesterday.

Mercy had a very tough outing against a more seasoned Port Jefferson squad.

McGann-Mercy showed no mercy for Southold yesterday on the softball diamond, taking a 9-0 lead in the first inning as the Monarchs batted around in their first at-bat.

The Monarchs were overwhelmed from the get-go as the Porters were firing on all cylinders.

Monarchs quarterback Ryan Razzano connected for three touchdown passes, including one to wide receiver John Urrico, who made a spectacular catch in the second quarter.

Mercy will get another shot at the Class B Championship Monday, when they face the loser of Saturday’s playoff game between Center Moriches and Babylon.
