Center Moriches was a tough match for McGann Mercy Thursday afternoon, beating them handily in the first game of the playoffs.

After a scoreless four innings, Mercy first got on the board in the fifth when, with the Red Devils ahead 7-0, catcher Olivia Valle batted in two runs. Center Moriches would continue to score throughout the game however, and Mercy was unable to catch up. The final score was 16-3.

Mercy (10-10) will get another shot at the Class B Championship Monday, when they face the loser of Saturday’s playoff game between No.2 seed Center Moriches (16-4) and undefeated No. 1 Babylon (20-0). The location of the game will be determined by seed.
