The Riverhead Highway Department has paved Cranberry Street and installed a sidewalk on the north side of the street, a common path for students walking to Riverhead schools.

There will be lane closures on Sound Avenue in Baiting Hollow today and tomorrow, as the conducts paving work in the area.

Hoping to resolve a long-running dispute once and for all, the highway superintendent and the town board agreed to ask the state attorney general for an opinion in the ongoing dispute over whether the cost of the town's loose leaf pickup program should be paid out of the highway fund or general fund.

Councilman Kenneth Rothwell and Assessor Laverne Tennenberg took their oaths of office yesterday in Town Hall Hall and Highway Superintendent Mike Zaleski was sworn in at the highway department.

Mike Zaleski of Riverhead runs every day to boost his own spirit and uplift others, sometimes by raising money or collecting food and toys for Riverhead residents in need. On Monday, he delivered a truckload of toys to Roanoke Avenue Elementary School.
