River Pointe Apartments

A parolee involved in the home invasion that resulted in the January 2013 shooting death of 2010 Riverhead High School graduate Demitri Hampton, 21, was convicted by a jury today on weapons and drug charges after May 2022 shooting. He faces 16 years to life imprisonment.

Police extinguished a fire in a second floor bedroom at the River Pointe Apartments Thursday night. No injuries were reported.

Gunshots fired in downtown Riverhead last night damaged vehicles and two buildings at an East Main Street apartment complex.

The Riverhead fire marshal said the fire was sparked by a cigarette tossed out onto a wood deck.
