Though permitted only as an "eating place" the owners were running a night club/tavern, where they employed women to entertain male patrons and induce them to buy alcohol, according to a state administrative law judge, who ruled that numerous violations and incidents at the premises caused it to become "a focal point of police attention" that should be shut down.

The alleged violations include 11 town code violations, 10 New York State Fire Code violations and six State Liquor Authority violations, according to police.

Police, code enforcement officers and the fire marshal found numerous code violations during a surprise inspection of a Rt. 58 bar with a history of police incidents, including a 2012 murder.

(Updated: 12:30 p.m.) A fight involving a baseball bat at a Route 58 bar last night led to the arrest of two Riverhead men, one of which attempted to flee police before being apprehended, police said.
