WRFD ‘Stuff-A-Bus’ food drive fills shelves at six local pantries
Six local pantries were “filled to capacity” following the delivery of food collected during the Wading River Fire Department’s Christmas "Stuff-A-Bus" campaign.

The Wading River Fire Department is in the final week of its annual Stuff-a-Bus food drive. The school bus, provided by First Student Bus Co., is nearly full, but due to the past weeks of snowy weather, the bus could still use more non-perishable food items, to finally fill it up.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the fire department is unable to stand outside the Wading River King Kullen supermarket, where for more than 20 years volunteers have set up on weekends in December to collect nonperishable food for local food pantries.

Wading River FD aims to fill a big yellow school bus with food — Stuff-A-Bus food drive is on
Wading River Fire Department vols are conducting their annual Stuff-A-Bus food drive between Thanksgiving and New Year’s to help restock empty shelves at local food pantries for the winter. They will make the rounds with Santa Claus Dec. 8 to visit children and collect nonperishable food items to help stuff the school bus that’s parked outside headquarters, where they will also accept donations.

Wading River Fire Department launches 2018 Stuff-A-Bus holiday food drive
Non-perishable foods and canned good will be collected during the holidays outside the King Kullen supermarket and at fire department headquarters beginning Sunday, Nov. 25 and continuing through the first weekend in January. The food collected will be delivered to seven area churches and food banks on Sunday, Jan. 6.

The Wading River Fire Department filled three trucks, including a large dump truck, with bags of groceries which it delivered to several area churches and food pantries yesterday,
