The first event was the 20 lap Super Pro Truck race. Chris Turbush in the #81 truck was the victor, his third victory of the season. The second event was the Blunderbust 20 lap race. It was a accident filled race, with with the first crash coming in lap 4. Seconds after the restart, car #84 crashes, gets a flat, and goes to the pits, minus a pit crew, but he did return. The victory went to Tommy “Wild Child” Walkowiak in the #00 car, his 46th career win.
Third race, the Chargers in a 20 lap contest, with the winner being Chris McGuire in the #89x car. He is the Charger division point leader.
Fourth race was the Late Models, a 25 lap event, There was a neck and neck battle between Roger Oxee in the #39 car and Mike Bologna in the #00 car, but the #00 prevailed for the win, his second of the season.
Fifth race was the ground shaking Modifieds, a 35 lap race, it was a quick and mostly uneventful race with the #2 car driven by Don Howe winning. His last victory was in June of 1996, and his is a five time former champion.
Last but not least was the full size school bus demolition derby. A classic in any race event, this seven-bus race started slow, but soon ramped up the energy of the many kids, both young and old in attendance. There were parts flying everywhere, the sound of glass breaking, grinding metal, and burning rubber. The wounded buses dropped quickly and the only two buses left to battle in the end were Menace Racing, driven by Dennis Scott #21, and the crowd favorite Cheesebox #11, driven by Mike Rommeney. They are future father- and son-in-aw. In the end, the win went to Mike Rommeney in Cheesebox. Hmmm….. The smell of anti-freeze, it smells like…..VICTORY !!
