Riverhead Blue Waves boys varsity soccer team defeated Mount Sinai Thursday 4-1 in the Waves’ home opener.
The new head coach Lamine Traore said he is happy with the way the varsity boys came out to play as a team. They were passing well and their defense looks good, Traore said.
“They all did their part,” the coach said. “They got the job done as a team and that’s important.”
Assistant coach Andrew Aleksandrowicz said the Waves put it together in the second half.
“They tightened things up. They stared playing well together,” Aleksandrowicz said. “That’s what it’s all about.”
