Video: Republican Riverhead Supervisor Sean Walter, in his concession speech in the Jan. 15, special election, which Walter lost in landslide to Democratic Southold Councilman Al Kupski (see story) said he and his campaign volunteers “did everything possible” to win the election but came up short.

He called the loss “a stunning defeat.”

“As I said from the very beginning, I entered this race by the grace of God and by the grace of God I would win or lose,” Walter said.

The results, he acknowledged, were “humbling.”

Walter made the speech before a hushed crowd assembled at Cody’s BBQ on East Main Street.

On Wednesday morning, the supervisor said he intends to seek re-election as Riverhead supervisor in November and said he expects to have the support of the Riverhead Republican committee in his quest for a third term.
