A woman was sent to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after a two-car accident on Route 58 just west of the Roanoke Avenue traffic circle, police said.

The driver of a blue Pontiac sedan was injured in the crash, which occurred at 2:19 p.m., after she made a “wide” and “fast” eastbound turn out of a shopping center parking lot onto Route 58, according to police.

Police said her vehicle collided with a westbound black Subaru Outback while making the turn.

She was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center with minor injuries that she reported from the impact of the airbag, police said.

The driver of the Subaru was not injured in the incident. There were no passengers in either vehicle, police said.

A portion of Route 58 is currently closed while police remove debris from the road, according to police.
