More than 40 East End restaurants, bakeries, growers, wineries and breweries will lay out a smorgasbord of the best the region has to offer in this year’s popular “Rotary Uncorked” fundraiser May 22 to benefit the Brendan House, Peconic Bay Medical Center and other local charities.
“Ninety-nine percent of the money raised for Rotary stays within the local community,” said Rotarian Patrick Wiles, who chairs the Uncorked event. “We’ve probably raised over $120,000 with this event over the past seven years.”
Last year, the event brought in $28,000 and hopes are high to bring in a bit more this year at $30,000, Wiles said.
“I think that’s pretty achievable,” he said. The club limits ticket sales to 350 guests.
Wiles said the event’s success is due to “tremendous” community, Rotary and business participation and said he wants to ensure those get the “proper recognition” for it.
Local eateries, bakeries and growers participating this year include The Riverhead Project, Holey Moses Cheese Cake, Bistro 72, Funcho’s Fajita Grill, Jerry & the Mermaid, Buoy One, Michael Anthony’s Food Bar, Village Cheese Shop, Grana, Rocco’s Pasta & Pizza, Cooperage Inn, Comtesse Therese Bistro’s, Koppert Cress, Sang Lee Farms, Phil’s Restaurant, Briemere Farms, Love Lane Kitchen, Starbuck’s Coffee, Maple Tree Catering, Blue Duck Bakery Cafe, Vines & Branches. Wines and craft brews will be poured by area vineyards and breweries.
“I want to thank Martha Clara Vineyards in particular because they’ve been generous enough to donate their facility and without them we wouldn’t have been able to make the money we’ve made,” said Wiles.
Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased from any Riverhead Rotarian. For more information, visit the club’s website.
